Photo Shows Jet, Not Missile, Near TWA 800

Experts have completed their study of a photograph that allegedly showed a missile heading toward TWA Flight 800 and concluded it was simply another jet, probably flying at cruise altitude, Cable News Network (CNN) reported Thursday, July 3rd, 1997.

Investigators were getting ready to rule out definitively a missile as the cause of the July 17, 1996, TWA disaster, CNN said. The Paris-bound Boeing 747 operated by Trans World Airlines exploded shortly after takeoff from New York's Kennedy airport, killing all 230 people aboard.
